HYDERABAD: The first phase of the survey under the Integrated Land Information System (ILIS), for which the Government has created the post of project director and posted A. Santi Kumari, is being taken up in Nizamabad district at a cost of Rs. 18 cores. Such a survey as a pilot project is being taken up after a gap of 50 years. For undertaking this task, officials will visit each village to secure details of lands and pattedars. The lands will be demarcated and given independent survey numbers. The village maps will be revised according to the new survey. Following this exercise, there will be changes in the land holdings of people. Each landholder will be allotted separate individual number. The project director will monitor the project from Hyderabad. A notification will be issued calling for objections, if any, after the preliminary survey. After considering the objections, the final survey will be published. Village-wise boundaries and plans will be published, which will be of benefit to the people. The survey will be replicated in other districts in a phased manner. According to an official of the Revenue Department, the Government has written to the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission for appointing 500 surveyors as early as possible. The commission is planning to notify the posts and conduct written examination to select the candidates.
