SAD END: Issac Raju's wife, K. Satyaveni, and his son, K. Prasad, at the Osmania Hospital mortuary in Hyderabad on Thursday.
HYDERABAD: Are the persons behind the murder of the preacher, K. Daniel, and the pastor, K. Issac Raju, the same? Soon after ascertaining that the body that was found near Shaikpet nala in Golconda was that of Issac's, the police have started comparing both the incidents to find out whether they have anything in common. First, both the persons went missing and it was only days later their bodies were found in gunny bags. Daniel was reportedly strangulated. Even Issac was said to have been killed the same way. Among other things, one aspect caught the attention of the investigators. While Daniel went missing from his residence at Asifnagar in Hyderabad police limits, his body was found in Shamshabad in Cyberabad limits. Issac went missing from his residence at Prashanti Hills at Rayadurgam and his body was found at Shaikpet in Golconda, which falls under the Hyderabad police jurisdiction. "Is this only to dodge the police?" the investigators wondered. It was believed that the miscreants owned, or at least engaged a four-wheeler. This theory gained ground because of the suspicion that both the persons were killed and their bodies transported later to Shamshabad and to Shaikpet nala. The police ruled out the use of any autorickshaw as anyone could have seen the accused with the bodies. Further, why would the miscreants dump the already decomposed bodies? The police said that Issac might have been murdered days before his decomposed body was dumped near Shaikpet nala. In the case of Daniel, initially the police believed that the assailants poured acid all over the body. But sources quoting doctors said that it was sunburn that caused decomposition and not acid. Another aspect was that in both the cases only Protestants were targeted. The Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murders of Daniel and Issac Raju. At a meeting with police officials, Mr. Reddy said that those responsible would be brought to book soon, a press release said.
Murders condemned
The National Congress of Indian Christians and other Christian organisations condemned the murders of Issac Raju and K. Daniel and demanded that the Government order a probe by a sitting High Court judge into the incidents.
