VISAKHAPATNAM: An unwed mother's claim that an Army constable was responsible for her giving birth to a boy proved false in a DNA test conducted by the Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad. After women's groups raised a hue and cry last year, the police booked a case of cheating and molestation against Durga Prasad, a lower-rung employee in the Army, now placed in the Madras Regiment. He was arrested immediately on receipt of a complaint from the unwed mother and later released on bail. The five-town CI, Sk. Hussein, said on Thursday that the report received by them from the FSL in Hyderabad two days ago had confirmed that the accused had not sired the baby.
