Swamy ridicules Congress demand for apology

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Friday described as "laughable and ridiculous" the Congress demand for an apology from the Bharatiya Janata Party and others for "falsely and maliciously slandering Rajiv Gandhi" in the Bofors deal.

In a statement, he said it was the Congress that should apologise for betraying Rajiv Gandhi's memory by aligning with those who praised the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
