NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Saturday rejected an application by Maninder Singh Kohli, facing extradition proceedings for being deported to Britain to face trial there in the Hannah Foster murder case, seeking summoning of 20 prosecution witnesses from Britain for his cross-examination saying that it was not "maintainable and lawful''. Kohli through his lawyer, S.C. Bakshi, urged the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACCM) to summon the witnesses who had deposed in the case in Britain. He had also sought summoning of the case file from that country. Dismissing his application, the ACMM allowed the plea by the prosecution that the power of the court in this matter was limited to see whether a prima facie case of extradition against Kohli existed or not on the basis of evidence brought before it. The court reserved orders on an application by Kohli's wife, Shailender Kaur, alleging that the British police had coerced her to record her statement implicating her husband in the murder of Foster.
