KASARAGOD: One hundred and thirty seven people will benefit in the first phase of the Akshaya project to be launched in the district soon. Applications have been invited by the district coordinator of Kerala State Information Technology Mission to start Akshaya e-centres in 137 places.

The project, which is to be implemented in seven districts, including Kasaragod, in the first phase, envisages providing Information Technology (IT) education to at least one member of each family as part of the Government's e-literacy programme.

The entrepreneur selected will invest money to set up the e-kendra. The eligibility for entrepreneurs aspiring to set up an E-Centre is a pass in Plus Two or pre-degree.

The last date for submitting applications to the Akshaya District Project Office is June 10. Applications can also be submitted online through the project website www.akshaya.net/swr
