Robbers give police the slip

NIZAMABAD: After a cinematic chase for a few kilometres, the police opened fire at offenders when they were fleeing after robbing a villager who was going in a motorcycle near Navipet mandal headquarter town around late on Friday night.

However, the offenders managed to escape as the jeep in which the Navipet Sub-Inspector and his men were following them broke down.The police opened four rounds of fire. The robbers left behind the motorcycle taken away by them from the villager and fled.

Some of the offenders must have sustained bullet injuries, as there were bloodstains on the motorcycle, the Superintendent of Police, N. Madhusudhan Reddy, said.

The culprits took away a wristwatch and a cell phone from the villager "We suspect that the offenders could be four in number. They arrived there on a motorcycle and waylaid the villager,'' said the SP.
