Tiruchi records marginal rise in performance in Standard X exams

12 government schools record cent per cent results

TIRUCHI: : The overall performance of Tiruchi district in the Standard X public examinations held under the SSLC, Matriculation and Anglo-Indian patterns this year has risen marginally to 89.81 from 89 per cent last year.

The Education Department has heaved a sigh of relief as the new syllabus prescribed for the Government/Government-aided school students this year was perceived to be tough, but the government schools and 16 Adi Dravida Welfare Schools have recorded an overall performance of 82 per cent each. It is 93.4 per cent for government-aided schools, 94.92 for matriculation schools and 97 per cent for Anglo-Indian schools.

Out of a total number of 30,668 students, who appeared for the examinations under the three patterns, 27,544 students have passed. Among the 105 government schools, 12 have obtained cent per cent results. Likewise, institutions with cent per cent results among the 101 government-aided schools, 73 matriculation schools and three Anglo-Indian schools, account for 18, 28 and 1 respectively. Notable among the government schools, which have maintained a sustained performance in the public examinations, is Manachanallur Girls' Higher Secondary School, which is among the institutions achieving cent per cent results.

Following are the first three district-level achievers under the three patterns.

SSLC (marks out of 500 and school name in bracket): W. Oliver Sampson Roy (488, St. Antony's Higher Secondary School, Kattur), J. Sowmya (486, Sirumalar HSS, Crawford), S. Dinesh Kumar (485, Bishop Heber HSS, Teppakulam), and R. Srividya (485, St. Joseph's Girls' Higher Secondary School, Ponmalaipatti)

Matriculation (marks out of 1,100): K.P. Kiruthika (1058, Arokia Matha Matriculation HSS), N. Sinduja (1050, Chinmaya Matriculation HSS, Srirangam), and N. Sairam (1047, BHEL Matriculation HSS)

Anglo-Indian (marks out of 1,000): G. Fathima Benazir (955, St. Joseph's Girls' HSS), K. Siddarthan (943, Campion Boys' HSS), and S. Deepika (918, St. John Vestry HSS)

State ranking in individual subject: Cyril of Campion Boys' HSS has secured the second mark in History at the State-level by scoring 197 out of 200.

Government schools (marks and location of schools in brackets): The first three achievers among the government schools are: A. Sukanya (475, Thuvarankurichi), R. Jagadeesan (475, T. Murungapatti), A. Sathya (469, Balasamudiram), F. Sukanya (469, Thuraiyur), T. Raj Manoranjan (467, Lalgudi), E. Vinod Kumar (467, Lalgudi), and C.Parthiban (467, Balasamudiram).

Adi Dravidar Welfare Schools: G. Aruna Devi (468, Milagupparai), M. Raghu (460, Milagupparai), M. Rahamathu Nisha (456, Kattur), and V. Sathish (456, Pambattipatti).
