KOCHI: : The police have intensified the search for the culprits who had carried out a Ripper-model attack on three members of a family residing near the Velutthathu temple, Paravur, on Friday midnight. Those who suffered head injuries in the attack were Bindu (35), wife of Dhananjayan; their son Vivek (9) and their acquaintance Rukmini (72). Robbery is said to be the motive behind the attack, as some gold ornaments worn by the victims were missing. This is the second such attack in the area in a month. The intruder gained access to the house by burning a portion of the door located in the first floor of the house and drilling a hole there.
Youth killed in accident
A 17-year-old youth was fatally knocked down by a lorry on the NH bypass near Premier Junction, Kalamassery, on Sunday morning. The police said that the victim, Ajas, was riding pillion with his father Syed Mohammed when the accident took place. Ajas was thrown away from the motorbike in the impact of the collision. He died on the spot.
