DAVANGERE: The Superintendent of Police, Alok Kumar, has said that he has instructed the police not to stop and check vehicles on the pretext of seeing if they are being run on liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. Responding to a question at an interaction programme at Vidyanagar here on Sunday, Mr. Alok Kumar said that until a gas-filling station is established in Davangere, the police have been asked not to harass people by stopping vehicles to examine whether they are being run on LPG. He said autorickshaw drivers have been told not to take more than six children in their vehicles. He asked parents to insist that autorickshaw drivers take only six children. The drivers have been told to keep first-aid kits in their vehicles so that commuters can be treated in the event of an accident.
