No speed breakers I am a management student of Kongu Arts and Science College. We have to walk a considerable distance from the Veepampalayam bus stop to our college. The major problem that we students face is the lack of proper speed breakers on the way. This road is prone to frequent accidents and most of the time, the victims are college students. The moment the bell rings, students race on their two-wheelers. Many accidents have occurred in the past but the college authorities have not taken any action. Authorities concerned should construct speed breakers to avoid future accidents and help students. Kavin Jain V., Erode. Overflow of sewage This is the third letter appearing in these columns regarding the overflow of sewage water from the manholes of Vivekananda Nagar. It seems the civic authorities never bothers to take note of it. G. Ramamurthy, Udhagamandalam. Give concession Those schools and colleges that own buses and vans for transporting students have been affected by the hike in diesel price each fortnight. The managements fix a particular fare for the year or two and collect it from the parents every month. Now the petroleum companies are permitted to fix the price of diesel once every fortnight depending on the price of crude in the international market. The result is, the management have started feeling the pinch. The management cannot effect changes every fortnight and the parents also cannot afford it. The Government should interfere immediately and give 50 per cent concession in diesel price to the vehicles of educational institutions. T. Sampath, Salem. Avoid negligence Many a time, the telegrams sent from the Gudalur and Devarshola post offices do not reach the recipients. The Postal and Telegraph department should ensure that messages are properly received at the other end, when sent through computers. J. C. Sanandam, Nilgiris.
