CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of coastal Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka, at many places over Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka. Mangalore and Kasargode recorded heavy rainfall of 11 and 7 centimeters respectively. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are: Kundapura (Udupi dt.) 6, Kurnool, Kalingapatnam, Kudulu (Kasargode) and Puttur (Dakshina Kannada dt.) 5 each, Panambur, Karwar, Kota (Udupi dt.) and Agathi Airport 4 each, Visakhapatnam Airport, Mulki (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Kollur (Udupi dt.), Hosdurg (Kasargode dt.) and Punalur 3 each.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Kerala, Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka during the next 48 hours.

FORECAST for Chennai City and Neighbourhood (valid until Thursday morning): Partly cloudy. Possibility of shower or thundershower in some areas during evening or night.
