THANJAVUR: : The Tamil University here will soon apply for accreditation of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Vice-Chancellor C. Subramaniam has said. Dr. Subramaniam, who took charge on Monday, said the accreditation was necessary for getting funds from various agencies. The process of accreditation would also help to assess the standards, he said.
Fund shortage
"My thrust will be on making the university vibrant. The university faces fund shortage. During my interaction with the teaching staff, I urged them to apply for projects that would fetch funds," he said. Dr. Subramaniam was previously the Head of the Department of Tamil, Chikkanna Government Arts College, Tirupur. He also worked as Registrar of Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore, from April 16, 2002 to April 15, 2005. He held the additional charge of Dean, College Development Council, Bharathiyar University, from April 20, 2002 to April 15, 2005. A chemistry graduate, Dr. Subramaniam did his M.A in Tamil, and received Ph.D in 1994. He has nearly 30 years of teaching and administrative experience.
