PONDICHERRY: The Secretary of the Pondicherry Committee of the CPI, N. Kalainathan, MLA, has urged the government to ensure that none of the privately run medical colleges in the Union Territory deviated from the norms and stipulations contained in the No Objection Certificates issued to them to start the colleges here. He told newspersons here on Tuesday that there were instances of some privately run self financing medical colleges assuming the status of `deemed universities` making a mockery of the norms governing them. Either the government should prevent such a trend of colleges becoming deemed universities or take them over for violating the norms. Mr.Kalainathan, who welcomed the Tamil Nadu Government's announcement to bid farewell to the entrance test for admission to professional courses and to consider only marks in the plus two public examination should be emulated by Pondicherry government.
