BELGAUM: Traders at the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) yard observed a bandh here on Tuesday in protest against the proposed amendment to the APMC Act. There was no trading at the APMC yard. The traders are opposed to the move to amend the Act as they feel that it will allow multinational companies to trade in agricultural produce, which goes against the interests of foodgrain traders and farmers. The traders said they are not opposed to multinational companies trading in agricultural produce but they must be brought under the purview of the APMC Act.
