BANGALORE: Eight birdies and a bogey free round saw Delhi's promising amateur Chiragh Kumar set a new course record on the opening day of the Eagleton Amatuer golf championship 2005. The card of 64 put Chiragh five strokes ahead of his nearest rivals, the trio of Saurabh Bahuguna, Pratap Singh and Shaurya Singh. Chiragh began brilliantly with two successive birdies on the first two holes. With a score of four under for each half, Chiragh did well to counter the windy conditions in the second half of the day. Saurabh Bahuguna, Pratap Singh and Shaurya Singh carded three under 69 while 2002-2003 winner Simarjeet Singh had a card of two under 70. Alongside Simarjeet were Vikrant Chopra, Himmat Singh Rai and Moin Malak. Eagleton's caddie B.R. Raja had a one under 71. The cut will be applied on the second day and the top 40 along with ties will make the cut. The tournament had a start list of 58 players. Special Correspondent
