Two partners of chit fund held
The police said Ramaswamy (53) and his wife were partners of the chit firm which had been functioning here since 1987. During the fag end of 2004, the company was closed and they failed to give back the deposits to customers. On a complaint from Vincent, a customer, the couple were arrested. Police sources here said the car driver suddenly applied the brakes on spotting a speed-breaker. The escort jeep that was closely following dashed against the Minister's car from behind. 4 held in assault case
Police said Ayyasamy, president, Pandavarmangalam, along with Samidurai, Anburaj and Manimaran assaulted Sekhar for having sent petitions to higher authorities about mismanagement at the panchayat. The accused assaulted Sekhar and later took away his belongings a 10-sovereign chain, watch, cell phone and Rs.50,000 in cash from his house. Staff Reporter
