"Environment Protection''

NEW DELHI: A rally-cum-painting competition to create awareness about the environment was organised jointly by the Prayas Institute of Juvenile Justice and Coca-Cola at India Habitat Centre here over the weekend.

Raising their concern over depletion of the ozone layer and global warming, about 150 children from Prayas participated in the rally. This was followed by a painting competition on the theme "Environment Protection".

Addressing the gathering, social worker, Nafisa Ali, said environmental issues need to be tackled effectively as they posed a serious threat to the future of mankind.

Management courses

NEW DELHI: The Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Management and Research (BVIMR) is offering both degree and diploma courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level in various management disciplines.

According to the Director of BVIMR, S.S. Vernekar, the various full-time courses offered by the institute include Master of Business Administration in human resource, information technology, marketing and international business, besides Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Computer Applications.

Walk for a cause

NEW DELHI: To create awareness about hunger and malnutrition deaths, the United Nations World Food Programme and TNT - one of the global leaders in express, logistics and mail - are jointly organising a "Walk the World" from India Gate here on June 12.

This 5-km-long walk for a cause would be undertaken in over 90 countries across 24 time zones. Those interested in participating in the walk can e-mail at in.marketing@tnt.com.

The money raised for the walk will be used for feeding little ones in schools across the country.

Cow slaughter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president, Harsh Vardhan, on Tuesday said those guilty of cow slaughter and export of beef from the Capital should be prosecuted and imprisoned.

Speaking at a dharna near Jantar Mantar here, Dr. Vardhan alleged that more than 250 cows were slaughtered per day under Government protection. "Now the MCD has itself confirmed the export of beef from the meat exporting factories located on Lawrance Road. It is also the responsibility of the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, the Industry Minister, Mangat Ram Singhal, and the MCD Commissioner, Rakesh Mehta, to ensure that no illegal activities are carried out in the factories running under them."
