`Cut down line losses'

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: The Managing Director of Gulbarga Electricity Company (GESCOM), K.C. Naikwadi, on Tuesday, warned the GESCOM staff against being complacent about bringing down the line losses and improving revenue collections.

Speaking after inaugurating a one-day training-cum-workshop on Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses and Finance Management Programme organised for the staff of the Gulbarga zone here, he expressed unhappiness over mounting line losses in GESCOM. Mr Naikwadi pointed out that from June 10, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. will cease to exist and GESCOM will have to purchase power independently from the Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd. The financial advisor of GESCOM, Karunanithi, announced cash prizes to the three divisions that had done well during April 2005 in revenue collections. While Gulbarga I division bagged the first prize, Gulbarga II division secured the second place, and Bellary division stood third.
