VISAKHAPATNAM: Several trade unions, representing Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels Limited (BHPV) employees here, have opposed the linking of the revival package for the Central PSU with the sale of its land. The assertion of the leaders comes ahead of a crucial high-level meeting scheduled for Thursday in Hyderabad in which the Union Heavy Industries Secretary, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and the BHPV management will participate. The leaders, representing the INTUC, CITU, AITUC, IFTU and AIFTU, among others, said on Tuesday that in a letter written by the Union Heavy Industries Secretary, Priyadarshi Thakur, to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, the revival package was linked to transferring the land. Besides extending relief and concessions, Mr. Thakur described the transfer of 377.73 acres of land and execution of a gift title deed as a "critical requirement'' for the revival package. The land would be disposed of to meet the huge financial commitment for revival since the Central Government could not raise resources, Mr. Thakur said in a letter. .
