Medical vacancies to be filled soon

CHANDIGARH: All 115 vacancies of Medical Officers and 450 vacancies of para-medical staff, including nurses, in Haryana will be filled up within the next four months and postgraduate courses would be introduced at the Sri Krishana Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra from the next academic session, according to the State Health Minister, Kartar Devi.

Talking to media persons shortly after formally inaugurating the Electro-Encephalo-Gram (EEG) and Ortho Pentomo Gram (OPG) machines at the General Hospital in Panchkula near here on Tuesday, she said that Rs. 75 crores had been allocated in the annual plan for promotion of health services in the State during the current financial year as compared to Rs. 45 crores during the last financial year.

This reflected the commitment of the Hooda Government to provide modern health services to the people. She disclosed that mobile health vans would be provided in each district to ensure health services at the doorstep of people in those villages which did not have any health institute. She pointed out that there were 16 such vans in the State and some of them were not worth use now. These vans would be again put to use and the entire scheme would be implemented with greater vigour.

She added that the Rural Health Mission was being implemented with full gusto to help the poor and needy. The services of specialists would be ensured at the level of Community Health Centres (CHC) and two CHCs in each district would be developed as model CHCs. To ensure the availability of doctors in rural areas, she said that the Government was planning to introduce a scheme under which those seeking admission in post-graduate courses would also have to serve in rural areas for a specific period. She added that a revolving fund with one time financial assistance of Rs. one crore from the Central government would be set up to ensure medicare reached those living below the poverty line. The State Government would also contribute its share on 50-50 basis for this scheme. Ms. Kartar Devi said that modern machinery would be provided at the trauma centre in Pt. B.D. Sharma Post-graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak and the centre at Karnal would be improved. The Health Department had prepared a transparent policy for allotment of fair price chemist shop to benefit the consumers. However, this policy was yet to be approved by the government.
