Maoists extend support to Vijayashanti

Staff Reporter

WARANGAL: Maoists in the district have extended support to the cine star, Vijayashanti, who is campaigning for statehood for Telangana.

The Local Guerrilla Squad commander of the Eturunagaram area committee, Damodar, in a statement here, wanted Vijayashanti to spell out her strategy for achieving the goal.

However, the naxal leader said since the time of M. Channa Reddy, political leaders and parties had duped people of the region.

Visit postponed

Meanwhile, Ms. Vijayashanti, who planned to visit Ramannagudem, which she claims to be her birthplace, in the last week of May, is likely to do so on June 12. She proposes to launch the agitation for separate Telangana from there.

Some of those who had distanced themselves from the Congress and the TRS during the last elections, following denial of ticket for the Assembly elections, are actively working for the success of her public meeting.
