CHENNAI: The Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, on Tuesday said that the Tamil Nadu Government has diluted its stand on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) resulting in the free movement of LTTE cadres in Ramanathapuram district. Refuting the Chief Minister's charge that he had changed his stand on the LTTE, Dr. Swamy said the Chief Minister had slackened in the hunt for the LTTE in Tamil Nadu. Talking to newspersons here, Dr. Swamy said Ms. Jayalalithaa, who had written many letters to the Centre against the LTTE in the past, had not demanded a pre-emptive strike by the Indian Air Force on the LTTE airfield. He warned that the small aircraft possessed by the LTTE could be a threat to Chennai. Dr. Swamy also criticised the Central Government's decision agreeing to LTTE participation in the tsunami relief distribution, describing it as a sell-out of the country's interest. The Janata Party president also questioned the Chief Minister's silence over the desalination plant to provide drinking water to Chennai.
