COIMBATORE: Four prisoners arrested in connection with the Coimbatore serial bomb blast case, observed fast from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday condemning the desecration of Holy Koran at a detention centre in Guantanamo Bay. It may be recalled that a foreign newsmagazine had carried a report that the Holy Koran was desecrated and allegedly dumped into the toilet by US soldiers.
"Insult to Islam"
The prisoners Abdul Rahman of Vijayawada, K.M. Umar of Kerala, Abdul Salam of Coimbatore and Abdul Karim of Palani observed fast condemning the "insult to Islamic faith". The prisoners demanded an unconditional apology from the United States President, George Bush, to the Islamic community for the act of the soldiers.
