BANGALORE: As many as 153 students, including 75 girls, of the 1999-2000 batch of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences graduated from the M.S. Ramaiah (MSR) Medical College on Tuesday. They were awarded certificates of merit by the former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission M.N. Venkatachalaiah at the annual convocation here. Rashmi S. Murthy bagged 10 trophies, three gold medals (those for Medicine, outstanding student in the final year and overall academic excellence) and one silver medal (physiotherapy). Shilpashree N. Rekha and Anuradha Shankar Rao won gold medals for securing the highest marks in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) and Paediatrics and Ophthalmology, respectively. Following is the list of students who secured the highest marks in various subjects in first, second and final year MBBS. First MBBS: Aggregate - Rashmi S. Murthy; Anatomy - Karan Kukreja; Physiology - Rashmi S. Murthy; Biochemistry - Chaitra K. Second MBBS: Aggregate - Rashmi S. Murthy; Pharmacology/Pathology/ Microbiology - Rashmi S. Murthy; Forensic Medicine - Mythri B.A. Final MBBS Part I: Community Medicine - Rashmi S. Murthy; Ophthalmology - Anuradha Shankar Rao; ENT - Rekha N. Final MBBS PART II: Paediatrics - Rekha N.; General Medicine - Rashmi S. Murthy; General Surgery - Preethi Nagaraj; OBG - Shilpashree D. Highest aggregate in first, second and final MBBS: Rashmi S. Murthy (first), Preethi Nagaraj (second), Rekha N. (third), Karan Kukreja (fourth), Madhusudhana N. (fifth), Amulya C. Belagavi (sixth), Anuradha Shankar Rao (seventh), Ramkumar J. (eighth), Chaitra K. (ninth) and Shilpashree D. (10).
Good potential
In his convocation address, Mr. Venkatachalaiah said the healthcare sector in the country has tremendous potential for growth. He called upon the students to be prepared to face professional challenges. The Chairman of the Gokula Education Foundation (GEF), M.R. Jayaram, and the Chief Executive (Health Sciences), GEF, B.R. Prabhakara, spoke.
