HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has directed Municipal Commissioners of the 10 surrounding municipalities to identify illegal constructions, encroachments and violation of building rules in their areas and submit a report by Wednesday evening. The HUDA Chairman, D. Sudheer Reddy, and the Vice-Chairman, Jayesh Ranjan, who held a meeting with the officials on Tuesday, said that once the violations related to setbacks, number of floors, cellar parking were identified, the HUDA and municipality officials would go for a joint inspection and initiate necessary action. They said the Municipal Commissioners had already submitted a list of important roads in each municipality for widening and improvements of junctions and the work would commence on July 1. "Our role is to co-ordinate, remove encroachments, while municipalities will execute the work," said Mr. Jayesh Ranjan. Mr. Reddy said that the municipalities were also asked to furnish the list of open spaces, layouts so that measures like tree plantation, construction of compound wall could be taken up to prevent encroachments. HUDA offered to develop parks if municipalities handed over more than three acres of vacant land as all the major parks in the twin cities were located around the Hussainsagar. Five parks had been sanctioned recently in Vanasthalipuram area under LB Nagar Municipality, he said. The meeting also held preliminary discussions on the proposed flyovers from Dilsukhnagar Bank Colony to L.B. Nagar junction and another one from Ramanthapur to Uppal and a feasibility study would be taken up soon.
Green drive
In the monsoon season, HUDA would go ahead with its plantation programme and 25 lakh saplings would be planted this year, including one lakh saplings in one day and at one place at Meenajipeta area in Toopran mandal of Gajwel constituency. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan said that HUDA proposed reforms to expedite the work related to various wings and they would be discussed in the board meeting slated on June 10. The proposed reforms included introduction of graded system and bringing fee parity in areas under HUDA limits and other areas under the Cyberabad Development Authority. Referring to the Outer Ring Road work, he said the first phase of work, the 22-km Gachibowli-Shamshabad stretch, would commence on September 15. It would be completed by the end of 2006.
