Commodity prices

The following were the rates (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Tuesday: groundnut oil-50, palmolein oil-39, sunflower oil-47, tamarind (flower variety)-20 to 28, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 42 to 48, chillies (new)-10 to 15, rice (2716)-13, rice (super fine)-15, rice (sona masoori)-17 to 19, rice (samba masoori)-15 to 17, black gram-27 to 28.50 and red gram-25 to 29.50.

JVV hails court order

The Jana Vignana Vedika hailed the High Court order on fish medicine, saying that the medicine was unscientific. In a press release here on Tuesday, its general secretary, V. Sivaprasad, said there was evidence that the medicine had no ingredient to would cure asthma.

Congress flayed

The CPI(M) criticised Congress leaders for issuing statements against people's movements launched by it in the city. Addressing a press meet here, the party city secretary, Ch. Babu Rao, said the Congress leaders were caught in controversies and corruption cases and that they had no time to solve people's problems.
