Road rage: trader allegedly fired at

Staff Reporter

Accused arrested, no one hurt

NEW DELHI: In what appears to be a case of road rage, a 32-year-old property dealer allegedly opened fire at a middle-aged businessman from his licensed weapon following a tiff over right of way at Mahipalpur Crossing in South-West Delhi around midnight on Monday night.

While the accused has been arrested, no one was reportedly injured in the incident.

According to the police, it all happened around 12-30 a.m. when Amarjeet Singh was on his way back to his Vasant Kunj residence along with his wife and children in his Mahindra Scorpio. Sukhdev Singh Dagar, a property dealer and resident of Jafarpur, was driving behind the Scorpio in his Hyundai Accent.

Sukhdev Singh told the police that he was driving down towards Vasant Kunj and despite honking repeatedly Amarjeet refused to give way.

Subsequently, an angry Sukhdev overtook the Scorpio and began driving slowly in front, blocking the way.

After a while, both vehicles stopped near the Indo-Italian Centre and Sukhdev and Amarjeet entered into a heated argument.

According to the police, Sukhdev lost his temper during the altercation, took out his pistol from the vehicle and fired two rounds in the air.

Sukhdev was arrested and his firearm seized.
