dated June 9, 1955: Metric system of weights

The standing committee for the metric system of weights and measures will hold its first meeting in New Delhi on June 22, 1955. It will discuss ways and means of bringing about a smooth change-over to the metric system with the cooperation of State Governments. The framing of suitable legislation for the introduction of the system and publicity measures will be considered by the committee.
