KOCHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured to redress the woes of slum-dwellers of Mumbai. This was conveyed to the former judge of the Supreme Court V.R. Krishna Iyer in reply to a letter from the jurist who expressed concern over the demolition of slums in Mumbai. In his letter, Mr. Iyer pointed out that the Mumbai slum-dwellers are a lamentable lot and remain a shock and shame to Indian fraternity, culture and constitutional secularity. The Preamble and other articles like Article 14 and 51 A declare, in no uncertain terms, every Indian's right to dignified life.
