HYDERABAD: Five persons, including three women, were killed on the spot and a two-year-old girl was battling for life after the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head-on with a van on the outskirts of Armoor town in Nizamabad district on Wednesday. According to reports reaching here, the ill-fated auto with five passengers was on its way from Dahegaon village when a speeding van rammed in to it near Siddulagutta, two km from Armoor town. The four passengers and the autorickshaw driver identified as Shami, 25 died on the spot. The mishap occurred when the van swerved to the right while negotiating a sharp curve and in the process dashed against the autorickshaw. The autorickshaw was badly mangled due to the impact. The Armoor SI, Janaki Redy, and others had a tough time in extricating the bodies from the badly damaged vehicle. The police identified the victims as Anwar, (32) and Vani. Anwar, an autorickshaw owner was accompanying his friend and autorickshaw driver, Shami to Armoor when the tragedy struck. Vani and her daughter, Akanksha were on their way to Khanapur village from Rampur to visit her parents when the accident took place. The girl was rushed to a private hospital in Armoor town where her condition was stated to be critical. The other women victims, whose bodies were kept at the Government hospital, were yet to be identified. The van driver fled soon after the mishap.
