Cooperative bank authorities flayed over loan recovery

KARIMNAGAR: Pandemonium prevailed at the Zilla Parishad general body meeting, which was held here on Wednesday, over the forcible collection of loans from farmers by the authorities of the cooperative bank in the district.

Cutting across party lines, the ZPTC members flayed the cooperative bank authorities for conducting the auction of agricultural lands of farmers who had failed to repay the loans due to the prevailing drought conditions. The members flayed the cooperative bank authorities for conducting the auction of agricultural lands of farmers in Lakkaram village of Mutharam mandal and Begumpet village in Kamanpur mandal in the district.

Not satisfied with the reply of the district cooperative central bank general manager, Gopal Reddy, who said that they were collecting dues only from the rich defaulters, the Telugu Desam ZPTC members approached the podium and raised slogans against the Government for its alleged anti-farmer policies. The members also said that the officials were misleading the ZP general body meeting on the forcible collection from farmers. When the members and the ZP chairman, K.V Rajeshwara Rao, suggested an inquiry to punish the responsible officers, the Collector, C. The TDP legislator, Ch Rajeshwara Rao, suggested the officials to chalk out strategies for production of own seed in the villages. The TRS legislator, K Lingaiah, asked the Government to distribute at least 50 per cent seed on subsidy .
