Seminar on careers held

NEW DELHI: The Ansal Institute of Technology organised a seminar on careers and US education at its campus earlier this week. Ms Patricia Thomas, Assistant Dean of Tarletan State University, spoke to the students and their parents about the US education system.

She highlighted the success of the partnership between TSU and AIT and said a lot of Indian students had benefited from the twinning arrangement and are at present pursuing their postgraduate studies successfully.

Hutch launches new scheme

NEW DELHI: Cellular operator Hutch on Wednesday launched an enhanced version of "My Hutch", the online personal web interface for its Delhi subscribers. The new initiative that has powerful tools and features will provide instant service to Hutch subscribers.

According to Sanjoy Mukerji, Operations Director, Hutchison Essar (Delhi, Haryana, Punjab), the new service will give subscribers the freedom to manage their mobile phone accounts at their convenience.

HDFC opens new branches

NEW DELHI: HDFC Bank has opened three new branches in Delhi at Karkardooma (East Delhi), Sunder Nagar and East of Kailash (South Delhi), besides opening a branch at Udyog Vihar (Gurgoan). With this, the total number of branches in Delhi and neighbouring townships has gone up to 67.

"The introduction of new branches is a concerted effort to provide our customers with the most accessible branch network," said Seshan Ramakrishnan, HDFC Bank's Regional Head (Branch Banking).

Tree plantation drive

NEW DELHI: The Eco-Care Centre, in collaboration with Garden Committee, University of Delhi, North Campus, organised a tree plantation drive behind Faculty of Arts on World Environment Day. Several students, lecturers, researchers and employees participated in the drive to spread the `go green' message.

More trees for Delhi

NEW DELHI: To improve the environment and green coverage of the city, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has fixed a target to plant 1.5 lakh trees in and around parks, gardens, institutions, roads, drains and sanitary landfill sites.

The Chairman of the Garden Committee, Nathu Ram Nagar, said MCD itself had developed 5 lakh saplings of trees and shrubs in its various nurseries that are now ready for plantation during the monsoon. Moreover, 945 parks would be redeveloped this year, he said, adding that MCD maintains 14,046 parks with an area of 5,500 acres of which 4,512 are ornamental parks with an area of around 2,400 acres while 377 parks have been developed for children.
