Arrest of women at night opposed

Staff Correspondent

MYSORE: The All India Mahila Samskruthika Sanghatane (AIMSS) has objected to the recent amendment to the law pertaining to the arrest of women. In a press release here on Tuesday, the AIMSS said it has been staging protests seeking a ban on arresting women at night on any plea. Yet, Parliament amended Section 46 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, prohibiting the arrest of women at night, but has added a phrase "save in exceptional circumstances."

The AIMSS said urged women and democratic forces to agitate for the abrogation of the phrase in the amendment.
