MYSORE: Sri Ramakrishna Ashram will conduct a quiz competition on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Students from various schools across the State are expected to take part in the competition. A press release from Swami Atmavidanandaji, president of the ashram, said the competition will be held based on Echchetta Chetana, a Kannada book on the life and messages of Swami Vivekananda. One lakh copies of the book will be distributed to the participants. Swami Atmavidanandaji said the competition is part of the ashram's efforts to reach the noble ideas of Swami Vivekananda to students. A similar competition was held last year on the life and teachings of Sri Sarada Devi in which 63,000 students from 650 schools participated. At least five per cent of the participants will receive an appreciation prize along with a certificate. Prizes, partly in cash and the rest in books, range from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,500 for the winners. Echcetta Chetana as well as question papers will be issued to schools and individuals from Friday. Students can obtain books and question papers after paying a registration fee of Rs. 5. While the last date for issuing books and question papers is July 1, the deadline for submitting answer scripts is July 5. Details can be had from the ashram office at Yadavagiri in Mysore or on Ph: 2412424 or 2417444.
