500 new buses for Haryana fleet

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Transport Minister, Randeep Singh Surjewala,said in Panchkula on Wednesday that the State Government will give a fillip to the transport facilities in the State to bring about a revolution in this sector.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Surjewala said that 500 new buses would be added to the fleet of Haryana State Transport this year, besides achieving a target of adding a similar number in the coming years too. He claimed that Haryana was second only to Bangalore in the matter of plying an entire fleet of new buses in the State.

Mr. Surjewala said that commuters would be provided with modern bus facilities and the bus stands would be equipped with better sitting arrangements, drinking water and clean toilets. Also special arrangements would be made for the night stay of the passengers at the night shelters and they would also be provided with locker room facilities. Lighting of the bus stands would also be given priority and private companies would be promoted for this purpose to give employment opportunities to the unemployed persons. He pointed out that bus services for religious sites would start from Panchkula soon.

He further said that the new industrial policy had been highly appreciated by people. He added that the recent quashing of the selection of the security guards had been done because they had not been accepted by the industrial organisations. As the very reason for which these guards has been selected by the previous government had been thwarted, therefore, the posts had to be quashed.
