Teenager killed in accident NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old man was killed and another seriously injured when a Blueline bus hit their bicycle on Desh Bandhu Gupta Road in Central Delhi on Wednesday. The bus driver is still at large. The incident occurred around 2-30 p.m. when the bus plying on route No. 853 hit the bicycle. The injured, identified as Ravi and Vijay (14), were rushed to a hospital where the later was declared dead on arrival. The police said Vijay's condition was serious. The police have registered a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving and launched a hunt for the erring driver who fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle. Appointment of Mirdha welcomed NEW DELHI: Veteran musicologist N. P. Seshadri, Chairman of the National Cultural Organisation, has welcomed the appointment of former Union Minister R. N. Mirdha as the new Chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi in place of Sonal Mansingh. A former member of the Akademi's Executive Board and one of the original signatories when the Akademi was set up in 1954, Dr. Seshadri on Wednesday urged the new Chairman to thoroughly overhaul its set-up with the infusion of "seasoned men of integrity who have no vested interests". Girl assaulted NEW DELHI: A three-year-old girl was allegedly criminally assaulted by her neighbour at Najafgarh in South-West Delhi on Tuesday. The incident apparently occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the accused, Nawab, took the victim to his house on the pretext of giving her chocolates and then criminally assaulted her. The victim was later taken to hospital where the doctors confirmed that she had been assaulted. Subsequently, the Najafgarh police registered a case and arrested Nawab. . Five arrested NEW DELHI: Five persons, including the son of a bureaucrat, were arrested on the charge of stealing cars and eight vehicles were seized from them, police said today. The gang was arrested by a police team which laid a trap near the ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan. Arrested were identified as Dharmender Singh, Jawed Khan, Hemant Kumar, Siya Ram Meena and Dharambir.
