Scottish bowler banned for drugs
LONDON:
Scotland cricketer Asim Butt has been banned from all forms of cricket for a year after the 37-year-old bowler tested positive for drugs.
Butt, who had failed a test on May 11 after a Totesport League match against Somerset, will now miss next month's ICC Trophy in Ireland which is a World Cup qualifying tournament.
On Wednesday, Butt appeared before an England and Wales Cricket Board disciplinary panel and admitted testing positive for the stimulant MDMA, BBC Sports reported.
Earlier, the Warwickshire duo of Graham Wragg and Keith Piper were banned for using cocaine and smoking marijuana respectively. Reuters
