PLANNING STRATEGY: National Democratic Alliance convener and Samata Party leader George Fernandes in Guwahati on Thursday.
GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance has urged the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to join the alliance. NDA convenor George Fernandes made the request during his meeting with senior AGP leader and former Assam Home Minister Bhrigu Kumar Phukan on Wednesday. Mr Fernandes on Thursday told reporters that he had also planned to meet former Assam Chief Minister and senior AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta the meeting did not materialise as he had to rush back to Delhi to attend an emergency meeting of his party Janata Dal (United). He said that he was here to formulate a strategy to dislodge the Congress from power in Assam and his meeting with Mr. Phukan was a part of that strategy.
