New chairmen for five banks
NEW DELHI:
In a major reshuffle of public sector bank top brass, the Union Government on Thursday appointed new chairmen for Canara Bank, Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Indian Bank and Andhra Bank.
The Indian Bank Chairman, M. B. N. Rao, will take charge of Canara Bank. The top slot in Canara Bank was lying vacant after its former chief, V. P. Shetty, moved over to IDBI. The Andhra Bank CMD, T. R. Narayanswamy, would become the new chief of Indian Overseas Bank as its former CMD moved over to Punjab National Bank.
Three executive directors are being promoted as Chairman. K. C. Chackraborty of PNB will become the new Chairman of Indian Bank while K. Ramakrishnan of BoB will take over charge at Andhra Bank. The Bank of India Executive Director, K. Balachandran, will become the bank's Chairman. PTI
