TUMKUR: Muslims in Tumkur have decided to offer special prayers here on Friday for a long life for the Sringeri Sankaracharya, Sri Bharati Tirtha, according to their leader, K. Nayaz Ahmed. Mr. Ahmed told presspersons here on Thursday that he and a group of Muslim leaders were blessed to have a darshan of the acharya at Sri Shankar Mutt during the latter's visit here . "We were initially stunned when the acharya, who was busy performing the Chandramouleeswara puja, gave us an audience. He heard us, accepted our salutations, and comforted us," Mr. Ahmed said. He quoted the acharya as having told the Muslim leaders that Hindu-Muslim amity and friendship must flourish.
