Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH: The Cuddapah Collector, G. Ashok Kumar's attempt to visit Ponnampalle village in Mylavaram mandal to console the bereaved families of 11 persons who were charred to death when a low-lying 11 kv electric wire fell on an RTC bus, turned futile when his vehicle met with an accident near Kurnool on Thursday.

Mr. Ashok Kumar, who was bound for Cuddapah, sustained injuries when his Qualis vehicle turned topsy turvy at Nannur near Kurnool on Thursday morning. He rushed back in another vehicle to Hyderabad for treatment, according to official sources. Mr. Kumar, who went on leave after attending the Chief Minister, Y.S. Kurnool Staff Reporter adds: Mr. Ashok Kumar was injured in the back and hand while his attendant, Nagasubbaiah, was admitted to hospital with a rib fracture.

The driver, Santhakumar David, received minor injuries. On learning about the mishap, the officials led by the RDO, Suryaprakash, rushed to the spot and helped the victims.
