Rs.240-lakh subsidy to be disbursed in Tuticorin dt.

TAHDCO action plan for the current year

TUTICORIN: Collector V. Chandrasekaran said that Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation would disburse subsidy to the tune of Rs.240 lakhs during the current fiscal under various schemes.

He told this reporter that a total of 6,040 persons, who wanted to avail land purchase scheme, revolving fund and economic assistance for women self-help groups, individual loans, vocational training, Collector's Discretionary Fund and self-employment programme for youth were targeted to be the beneficiaries.

Those who wish to avail subsidy under the land purchase scheme could buy a maximum of 2.5 acre of wetland or five acres of dry land and develop it at a total cost of not exceeding Rs. two lakhs.

`Of the total amount, 50 per cent would be subsidy and the rest bank loans,' he said.

During the current financial year, 300 women Adi Dravidar SHGs would be provided assistance to the tune of Rs.75 lakhs, of which Rs. 30 lakhs would be subsidy/revolving fund.

Mr. Chandrasekaran said that subsidies worth Rs. 24 lakh would be given to 200 persons who get individual loans during 2005-06.

T. Dhamodharan, district manager, TAHDCO, said that the corporation would provide subsidy to conservancy workers also who obtain term loans from National Karamchari Financial Development Corporation.

`We give a subsidy of either 30 per cent of the total amount or Rs.25,000 whichever is less,' he said.
