11,341 teachers' posts to be filled

Step taken to ensure that studies of students do not suffer Recruitment in accordance with the criteria laid down for each category, says Education Minister

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, has taken a major decision to fill up 11,341 sanctioned vacant posts of various categories of teachers, including 9,755 secondary and 1,587 JBT teachers, on contractual or guest faculty basis for the period from July 1,2005, to March 31, 2006. This step hase been taken to ensure that the studies of students do not suffer due to shortage of teachers.

In an official statement here on Thursday, Mr. Hooda said that the remuneration for contractual teachers, including those teaching Hindi and Punjabi, would be nearly Rs.9,000, including D.A, per month and honorarium for guest faculty on period basis would be Rs. 50 per period and there would be at least three periods daily.

The category of PTI /Drawing teachers would be given consolidated salary of Rs. 7,000 per month including D.A..

The honorarium for guest faculty would be Rs.45 per period and there would be at least three periods daily.

The Master would be paid Rs.9,000 consolidated including D.A. per month and the honorarium for guest faculty on period basis would be Rs. 55 per period for at least three periods daily. In the case of School Lecturers, they would get Rs. 10,000 per month and Rs. 80 per period as honorarium for guest faculty for three periods daily.

Mr. Hooda said that earlier the recruitment of teachers was made through the Haryana Public Service Commission / Haryana Staff Selection Board. Since these bodies took a very long time to send their recommendations, the vacancies of the Department could not be filled up on time and studies of the students suffered a lot.

The Haryana Education Minister, Phool Chand Mullana, said that the contractual and guest faculty teachers would be recruited in accordance with the criteria laid down for each category.

He said that the Principal/Headmaster of the concerned school had been authorised to assess the short fall of teachers keeping in view the sanctioned posts and the enrolment of children.
