NIZAMABAD: The District Collector, D.V. Raidu, said the administration would initiate action against those beedi manufacturing units which are not contributing to the Provident Fund of their employees eligible for PF coverage. Addressing an official meeting here on Thursday, he asked all the beedi manufacturing companies to bring every employee working in their units under the PF coverage. Due to counselling conducted twice for the manufacturers recently, an additional 19,350 workers were brought under the PF fold, he said.

Saying that another meeting would be held with beedi manufacturers, he asked them to furnish all details regarding their workers and cooperate with the administration in implementing the Provident Fund to all of them. Mr. Raidu directed the General Manager of the District Industrial Centre, Mr. Rama Rao, to arrange a meeting with the captains of industries and trade in the district to explore the possibilities to set up industries. On the occasion, he disclosed that in the recent past, 189 small scale and cottage industries had come up in the district providing employment to scores of unemployed. Another 54 industries that included brick making, sawing, motor winding, welding and detergent making were set up through the Single Window system, he said.
