CHENNAI: Yet another `bureau pulling' case has been reported in the city. Jewellery weighing 65 sovereigns and Rs. 60,000 were stolen from the house of a TNEB engineer on Wednesday night at the western suburn of Maduravoyal. The police said the culprits opened the window of Raghavan's house at Krishna Nagar and pulled the bureau close to it. They then removed the jewellery and cash from it and escaped. This is the third incident of `bureau pulling' reported in the Ambattur sub-division, say the police. Records show that the first incidence of `bureau pulling' was reported about a year ago in which Rs. 1 lakh was stolen from a house. In the second incident that took place about a fortnight ago, an employee of Heavy Vehicles Factory, Avadi, was the target. Three sovereigns of jewellery were stolen. Following the incident, two special parties have been formed to nab the offenders, police added. In another incident the cash bag of an MTC conductor was snatched. However, the public nabbed the culprit after the conductor raised an alarm at K.K. Nagar on Wednesday. The police said the conductor of the bus route number 12G was counting the cash after the completion of services for the day. Even while he was counting, Kumar of Teynampet, who was in the bus, allegedly snatched the bag from him and escaped.
