CHENNAI: The Air Hostess Academy, an institute that trains manpower for the service industry, has announced the launch of its Chennai branch with two diploma courses on offer. At a press conference on Thursday, Sapna Gupta, founder and chief consultant of the Academy, said the Chennai branch would take in 250 students in the first year. It would offer a one-year Diploma Course in Aviation and Hospitality Management and a two-year Diploma Course in Global Aviation and Hospitality Management. While the one-year course would focus on preparing manpower for aviation, tourism, hospitality and other service industries in India, the two-year course would provide a global perspective to it.
Growing demand
Ms. Gupta said the Academy chose to open its first branch in south India in Chennai because of the city's standing in the aviation and hospitality map. Knowledge of the regional language would also go down well with the demands of foreign airliners. With the boom in the civil aviation and tourism sectors in this part of the country, Chennai required at least 9,000 trained manpower for aviation and hospitality industries this year. The requirement of the aviation industry alone was 5,000. The administration for the Chennai branch would be headed by franchisees Pavan Gupta and Vikas. The branch will be located at No. 56, Block A, Thirumalai Pillai Road, T.Nagar.
