THIRUVANANTHAPURAM S: chemes costing Rs.168 crores will be implemented to augment the infrastructure of the five medical college hospitals in the State. Speaking to presspersons after a Cabinet meeting here on Thursday, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the Government had so far invested Rs.1,200 crores on the hospitals. It was also spending Rs.100 crores a year on staff salaries. However, the infrastructure could not be fully used because of minor deficiencies. An amount of Rs.44 crores, he said, would be availed from HUDCO and Rs.124 crores from NABARD as loan for implementing the schemes. On the additional 150 seats for the MBBS courses proposed to be created in medical colleges, the Chief Minister said the matter was awaiting clearance of the Indian Medical Council.
Western India Plywoods
He said the Cabinet had approved a scheme for the revival of the Western India Plywoods at Valapatanam.
