ERODE: : The headmistress of the Ganapathypalayam Panchayat Primary School near here was suspended on Friday by Chief Educational Officer P. Kuppuswamy for deputing students to clean the school toilet. To admission of all eligible children and dropouts to schools, Collector D. Karthikeyan launched an intensive motivation campaign in the panchayat union primary school at Ganapathypalayam on Thursday.
Collector not aware
In view of his visit to the school, a lady teacher instructed some boy students to clean the toilet. The Collector was not aware of this. After inaugurating the programme, he admitted some children and left. Coming to know the details, he asked the Chief Educational Officer to take action. After an enquiry, the CEO suspended Headmistress M. Chandra. (The school students told this reporter that Vijayalakshmi a teacher of the school, instructed the boys to clean the toilet. She was also suspended by Educational Department officials.) The Collector warned school teachers not to entrust any work to students, especially cleaning classrooms and collecting water. In case of any such complaint, the concerned teacher and the headmaster or headmistress of the school would be dismissed.
