TIRUCHI: : A section of the residents of Eda Theru resorted to picketing on the Eda Theru Road near Gandhi Market here on Friday making the city police anxious. The residents, led by Ashok Kumar, resorted to the step to know why action had not been initiated against Prabhu, who is said to have had problems with Ashok Kumar during a temple festival held there recently. Police sources here said the problem arose between Ashok Kumar and Prabhu during the temple festival following which petitions were submitted to the Gandhi Market police station from both sides. On receiving information about the picketing, police personnel rushed to the spot and pacified the residents. The picketing went on for about 30 minutes.
Youth escapes from juvenile home
An 18-year-old youth escaped from the government juvenile home here on Wednesday. The matter was reported to the city police on Friday. The name of the escaped youth was given as Kumar hailing from Kadainallur in Tirunelveli district. Police sources here said Kumar, who was involved in a theft case in the Pudukottai Town police station limits, had been in the place since February. Based on a complaint from the superintendent of the Home, the Fort Police have registered a case.
